But Who Bears the Burden?
Posted by Eric F. Langborgh on 06 Feb 2008 at 11:32 amHere’s an incredible statistic, found here:
“Just one corporation (Exxon Mobil) pays as much in taxes ($27 billion) annually as the entire bottom 50% of individual taxpayers, which is 65,000,000 people!”
The linked article also notes that in terms of gross adjusted income, Exxon paid a tax rate of 41%.
Now, do you think Exxon just swallows that burden? Of course not! They pass it on at the pump to the consumer. How much do you think those 65,000,000 people would appreciate the lower cost for filling up their cars if the gas companies didn’t have to pay that incredibly unjust tax rate?
