The Major Media’s Despicable Attempts to Pre-Crown the King (or Queen)
Posted by Eric F. Langborgh on 11 Oct 2007 at 12:30 am“_____________ has no chance of being nominated/elected.” Such is the oft-delivered statement by so many in the major media, before one vote is even tallied. How is it that they can so shamelessly write off a candidate before the campaign season has even really begun?
The trouble is that the media’s treatment of candidates is often a self-fulfilling prophecy. Candidate X has no chance because he or she isn’t given any air time in order to become known, while the anointed ones receive millions of dollars in free publicity by their omnipresence in media reports and interviews. And if a “long-shot” makes it into a debate, the media’s tactic is to not let him speak, and then ignore him afterwards.
Check out this graphic that someone has pulled together of the number of questions and amount of time each candidate was given in Tuesday night’s Republican debate on the economy on CNBC (HT: LewRockwell.com/blog):

The bias is so blatant it is sickening. I’ve watched nearly every debate so far, and I can assure readers that the pattern has held true in every case, save one.
Fortunately, in the case of Ron Paul, he has made it increasingly difficult to be ignored. He is the king of the Internet, with over 30,000 YouTube subscribers (far more than any other), for instance. He attracts huge rallies of passionate supporters wherever he goes — far more than any other Republican candidate and on par with the crowds Barack Obama gets. Dr. Paul’s campaign is adding 20,000 new volunteers a day. His consistent and principled stands on the Constitution as it relates to the war, civil liberties, and the role of the federal government stand in such contrast to the other GOP candidates in the debates that he can’t be missed, even when he is given so few minutes to speak. In fact, his statements and the outrage it brings from the various statists on the stage often makes for great theater and is all the post-debate buzz. And finally — but far from least - Ron Paul raised the third most money last quarter — $5.1 million dollars — with even more left in his war chest. His candidacy is serious and is gaining some major momentum in the last quarter. And for the 4th quarter, the Paul campaign has set an aggressive, but I think very doable, goal of raising another $12 million in time for the first primaries.
So, let’s stick it to the major media, the major party establishments, the statists, and the warmongers. Please join me in support of Ron Paul for President and Donate today. I have — twice. And I will much more. Your financial gift at this time is not just the right thing to do, it is an investment in America’s future. Ron Paul is our only (political) hope for reinstating the Constitution and restoring freedom in this land.
