Letter of Resignation

Dear Brothers and Sisters at Capitol Hill Baptist Church,

This morning, Bonnie and I were blessed to be accepted into the membership of Alexandria Presbyterian Church. And though we look with hopeful expectation to our future there, we rejoice in our experiences of the past five years with you. In our time at CHBC, you have been a blessing to us, and we value your continued friendship. Therefore, we offer the attached copy of the resignation letter we sent to the elders of CHBC on Wednesday, December 1, as way of explanation.

As you will see and may have already known, we decided to leave CHBC and join APC on the issue of infant baptism, of which we have become convinced of its biblical mandate. Should you desire to understand some of our reasoning, I would point you to this article on my blog, which I wrote back in late July when I was still wrestling with the issue.

I do apologize that this note is somewhat impersonal. However, given the great number of brothers and sisters at CHBC who have grown dear to us, it seemed best to send just one email to all our CHBC friends. I’m sure we will see many of you in the near future, at which time we will be better able to convey our appreciation for you.
